Orientation for New International Students


Welcome to the 麻豆传媒 community! We are excited to meet you online or in person as you begin your university life, no matter where you are in the world! Our international student orientation programming is a great way to start the semester. We are all here to support you!听

International Student Orientation 2025


Halifax: International Student Orientation in Halifax听will be held in-person on August 26 on Sexton Campus and August 27 on Studley Campus. The programming is the same for both days, so you can choose to attend听one date or the other (or both,听depending on which date/campus works best for you).听

Orientation will include听an introduction to 麻豆传媒, workshops designed to help prepare you for university life, and opportunities to connect with your fellow students. More details coming soon!

Truro:听New International students on the听听are invited to join Student Success and upper year international students for International Welcome on August 28. This is an opportunity to connect with your fellow students, learn about campus supports (including听immigration related supports), meet the AC mascot Rocky, and have fun as you adjust to life in Canada. International students can arrange early move-in to campus housing to allow for participation in International Welcome events (details coming soon).

Further event details will be shared in the听, with on-campus events shared in the New to Dal - Truro group and virtual event details shared in the International Centre Community group.

The International Centre is hosting helpful virtual info sessions for new incoming international students in collaboration with partners to help you transition to life at Dal.听

Note: The following virtual meetings are in Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT). Please join these meetings using your 麻豆传媒 NetID/email account, as non-Dal accounts will not be granted access. For information on how to activate your NetID, please visit the听听on the 麻豆传媒 ITS website.

What really is Canadian culture like? What makes Canada unique? Learn more about 鈥淐anadiana鈥� including Canadian multiculturalism, social norms, and more.

Off-Campus Housing Info Session


Brought to you in partnership with Dal Legal Aid, this session is a step-by-step guide on how to find off-campus housing in Nova Scotia and how to protect yourself from scams and avoid troubles with your landlord.

Immigration Essentials


Prepare for a smooth transition into life at 麻豆传媒 as an international student. In this session, our expert immigration advisors will cover important topics such as study permits, study permit renewals, co-op work permits, and working as a student in Canada. Get the information you need to confidently start your academic journey at 麻豆传媒!

Health & Wellness Session


麻豆传媒鈥檚 Student Health and Wellness will host Q&A sessions to cover topics such as on-campus health services, wellness management, medication, immunization, health tips, and more.

Nova Scotia ID/Social Insurance Number Clinic (Halifax campus)

In addition to International Student Orientation, the International Centre will host an in-person Nova Scotia ID and Social Insurance Number clinic on Thursday, August 28 from 9 a.m. to听3 p.m.

Nova Scotia Photo IDs are an听alternative form of identification so you don鈥檛 have to carry your passport everywhere, and听Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) are necessary to work in Canada and do your taxes.听
